Worrying gap in the roof over our heads

BRISTOL OBSERVER - 14TH NOVEMBER 2003

Over 80 per cent of homeowners say meeting their mortgage repayments would their biggest financial worry if they were to lose their jobs.

However, few had made provisions for keeping a roof over their heads in the event of redundancy, according to the Mortgage Advisers’ Association (MAA), which warns if they were made redundant.

The survey found that more than 50 per cent of respondents hope to rely on state social security benefits if they were unable to find employment after redundancy.
