Lenders more expensive

THE OBSERVER - 4TH JULY 2004

Homeowners looking for mortgage payment protection insurance are being reminded that lenders may not offer the cheapest cover. Specialist mortgage payment protection insurance company Burgesses estimates that 2 million homeowners could be overpaying for their cover by £7 billion a year. Burgesses compared lenders’ policies with its new policy Mortgagesafetynet. The full accident, sickness and unemployment package costs as little as £3.95 pre £100 of monthly benefit, compared with an average £5.78 from high street sources.
