Extra cover

THE GUARDIAN - 12TH SEPTEMBER 2002

Insurance agency Burgesses has launched a mortgage payment protection insurance policy that offers individuals or couples cover against the risk of unemployment and disability. The insurer will also pay out in case of sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV and cover the physical complications that arise from pregnancy. Its new deal is available to anyone aged between 18 and 65 and will pay mortgage repayments of up to £2,500 per month. To protect a typical mortgage in joint names of, say, £500 a month would cost £13.75 irrespective of the occupations or life styles of the policyholders.
