Burgesses launches new income protection plans

HEALTHCARE INSURANCE REPORT - 1ST AUGUST 2002

City underwriting agency Burgesses has three new plans that it hopes will attract premiums in excess of £1m a year.

Prosperityfirst pays up to the lower of 75% of income or £2,500 a month after a 30 day waiting period on disability and costs £2.50 per £100 of monthly benefit. Independencefirst, priced the same, provides cover against unemployment.

Healthsafe is a combined accidental death and injury, income protection, critical illness and permanent and total disability by accidental plan. £5 a month minimum premium provides capital benefit of £60,000 plus £60 a week income protection. Including critical illness and PTD increases the monthly cost to £12.

Commission on all plans is 20% and they are available to UK residents aged 18 to 65.
