Burgesses’ launches income protection

PERSONAL INSURANCE DIGEST - 15TH JANUARY 2002

Protection broker Burgesses, is launching a package of low cost stand-alone income protection against the risks of unemployment.

UnemploymentSafe is underwritten at Lloyd’s and is available to employed and self-employed people aged between 18 and 65, irrespective of occupation.

The package contains the following features:

• Benefits are not tied to a mortgage or other loan
• Maximum benefit is £2,500 per month.
• Benefits are payable for either one or two years and free of tax and discounted in the calculation of Income Support
• A 30-day excess period
• Premiums ranging between 2.5% and 3% per £100 including tax.
• A complimentary employment and stress advice line is available to all policyholder.

Burgesses managing direct, Simon Burgess said: “With changing work patterns there is no such thing as a job for life and State provision is either minimal or in most cases non-existent.

“Therefore, unemployment protection ought to be an essential purchase for most people once they have insured their lives.
