Burgesses holds out promise of all-needs disability plan
FINANCIAL ADVISER - 16TH JULY 2002
Burgesses, Lloyds of London agent, has launched what it describes as an “all-needs-covered disability package” called Healthsafe.
Healthsafe has four main components: accidental death and accidental loss of eyes, limbs, speech and hearing; income protection; critical illness; and permanent total disability is included, the cost rises to £12 a month.
Healthsafe includes a no-claims bonus whereby all premiums are returned after five yeas provided thee have been no claims during the policy period.
Simon Burgess, managing partner of Burgesses, said: “Healthsafe will provide clients and their families with peace of mind during a major health crisis. Intermediaries should find this a very attractive product in terms of price and content.”
Verdict: Moshe Hadari, partner at IFA Chancery Barr, said: “On the face of it, this is a very innovative product. However, Burgesses will not give any details about premium variations depending on age. I think Names in the relevant Lloyds syndicate will lose an awful lot of money if enough people make claims.
