Burgesses enhances IFA offer

HEALTH INSURANCE - 1ST JUNE 2003

Specialist underwriter Burgesses has launched a new product, called DisabilitySAFE, to the intermediary sales channel.

Underwritten by a panel of insurers, including Lloyd’s, it provides an ‘all needs covered’ disability package for individuals and groups buying through an intermediary.

DisabilitySAFE has three main components:
• Accidental death and/or accidental loss of limbs, eyes, speech or hearing.
Income protection
• Permanent disability.

It is available to all occupations, providing up to £1m cover per person, without the need for medical underwriting.

The contract’s features include calculation of benefit based on lost chargeable hours which is particularly beneficial to people in professions that pay by the hour, such as solicitors and accountants.

Under the scheme, a male chief executive in his 30s would pay £250 including tax to gain £1m worth of cover against permanent disability.

Commission of up to 20 per cent is available to intermediaries.

Burgesses managing partner Simon Burgess said: “DisabilitySAFE will provide clients and their families with peace of mind during a major health crisis and enable businesses to either fulfil their obligations to employees or secure compensation for the loss of their services at a moderate and predetermined cost.”
