Burgesses: Mortgage payment protection insurance rethink

Mortgage payment protection insurance provider Burgesses has stopped providing wholesale mortgage payment protection insurance facilities to its agents, and is concentrating on direct mortgage payment protection insurance sales through its e-commerce website, www.securityfirst.co.uk. It will, however, continue to offer group and individual personal accident and illness insurances to a much smaller agency base. The company claims the increase in PI costs and imminent General Insurance Standards Council regulations have forced the move.
