Underwriting agency Burgesses has launched a new mortgage and income payment protection insurance policy, HouseSafe, which provides six months free unemployment cover to new mortgage or re-mortgage clients.
Employed, self-employed, contract workers or owner-directors and their families can be covered on wither a full or part time basis, provided they have worked for a minimum of 16 hours per week over the past six months.
HouseSafe is underwritten at Lloyd’s and provides tax-free benefits (discounted in the calculation of income support) of up to £1,500 per month or 75% of gross earnings. After the six months free period, premiums are at £3.50 per £100 monthly benefit, with a 30-day waiting period and no initial exclusion.
