The British Insurance Brokers’ Association has appointed member broker Burgesses Limited as the exclusive scheme provider of accident, sickness and unemployment insurance to its 2,000 member firms.

Burgesses, managing director, Simon Burgess, said: “Our intention is provide BIBA members with a one-stop shop for accident, sickness and unemployment insurance to enable them to claim a share of the £5billion in annual commissions that are available in the UK alone.”

BIBA technical services manager Graeme Trudgill said “Traditionally only a few brokers have realised the vast earning potential of accident, sickness and unemployment insurance. We believe that by utilising the vast experience of Burgesses Limited, BIBA members will be able to give their clients quality cover, first-class advice and wider choice, to the mutual benefit of all concerned.

The new scheme combines a choice of mortgage, income or loan protection; back-to-day-one cover; tax-free claims benefits for up to 12 months; and no premium-loading on the basis of age, sex or occupation.
