Affordable income protection plan aiming at widest range of workers

MORTGAGE SOLUTIONS - 14TH MARCH 2005

Specialist insurance broker Burgesses has launched an income protection package with universal rates, irrespective of age, occupation, gender or employment status.

The package builds upon the firm’s current range of non-discriminatory insurance products to provide low-cost protection against unemployment and disability. Cover is available to all UK residents below retirement age including employed, self-employed or contract workers on either a full or part-time basis, provided they work for more than 16 hours a week.

Simon Burgess, managing director of Burgesses, said: “This is a unique and attractively positioned income protection product both in terms of content and price. With ever changing work patterns the notion of a job for life is history and our non-discriminatory approach will allow British workers to have peace of mind at an affordable cost.”

Alan smith, director at Capital Asset Management said: “This is a niche product and it will be most suitable for high risk individuals. Clients with a standard level of risk would probably find better value elsewhere.”

Burgesses created the income protection package due to recent redundancies and higher rates of long-term disability among UK workers. It is fully compliant with Financial Services Authority guidelines and provides a range of unique benefits, such as tax-free claims benefits payable for up to 12 months.
