Unemployment, Accident & Sickness Insurance - British Insurance

Protection Insurance Guide

Moving or transferring cover

Do you already have a protection policy, but you would like to move to British Insurance?

That is easy, and the underwriters will waive the initial 120 day exclusion period normally imposed at the beginning of a policy provided that:

  • There is no gap in cover. Make sure that the start date of the new policy and the cancellation date of the old policy are the same
  • You have had your current policy for six months
  • The benefit on your new policy needs to be the same as on your current policy. It is possible to increase the amount, but there will be an initial exclusion period on the increased amount
  • The cover is like for like (the same cover options)

Make sure you inform your current insurer and cancel your Direct Debit.

We work with a number of insurers. The insurer you receive a quote from depends on your age and the cover you have selected. Full documentation and eligibility criteria are available during the application process. Please read it carefully.
