In recent times protection insurance has been in the news and this has led to a great deal of confusion about the product. The press publicised customers’ complaints of being wrongly sold this form of cover and this led to a distrust of the product as a whole.

We earned our name

British Insurance is one of the UK’s leading independent Unemployment, Accident and Sickness Insurance providers and part of the Towergate Partnership - the largest independent insurance intermediary in Europe.

When we launched the business in November 2005, we had to gain permission from the then Secretary of State and Industry to use the word ‘British’ in our Company title. Very few firms are allowed to do this, as to do so you have to demonstrate pre-eminence in your field, via the provision of supporting evidence from third-parties.

Having provided endorsements from insurance industry and media commentators we were delighted our high ethical standards and market-leading portfolio were recognised. For us, the agreement to use British in our name is the ultimate accolade and over the years we’ve built upon our solid foundations and trusted reputation to develop flexible policies with insurers.
